The first visit is called an “intake” session. In the session, you and therapist will discuss your goals for therapy. Together you will decide the next steps moving forward along with the frequency of sessions.

The duration of counseling varies based on individual needs. Some may find resolution in a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term support. We'll regularly check in on your progress.

A Better Bond Therapy has three locations:

• An office on Linden Road in Flint, MI

• A partner farm in Davison, MI for equine sessions

• A partner farm in Swartz Creek, MI for equine sessions

Yes, we accept several commercial plans and Medicaid MCPS such as:

Aetna, ASR, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Care Network, Blue Cross Complete, Cigna, Humana, Humana Military (Tricare East), Molina, Optum, Priority Health, and United Healthcare.

When using insurance payments, the therapist is required to provide personal healthcare information including but not limited to a mental health diagnosis and information to substantiate medical necessity for your treatment.

If you don’t want A Better Bond Therapy to file insurance submissions, you can pay privately or "Out-of-pocket" by utilizing one or more of the following payment types to cover fees: money order, check, or credit card.

Billing: Clients are financially responsible for all charges incurred at each visit, whether covered by health insurance or not. All out-of-pocket expenses or co-pay as determined by your health insurer are due at the time of service.

$165 per 60-minute session.
$135 per 45-minute session.

A Better Bond Therapy, we understand that not everyone has insurance or can afford higher out of pocket rates, so we offer a lower cost option based on a sliding scale that considers your income. Ask for more details..

A equine session takes place at one of the partnering farms (locations both in Davison and Swartz Creek, MI.) The therapist incorporates the Eagala model that uses “SPUDS” to outline the therapy session. Horses bring a calming presence to therapy, helping individuals feel grounded, connected, and at peace as they heal. The decision to cancel sessions considers the safety and well-being of the clients, horses/animals, and staff at all times. As it related to temperature, we follow the guidelines for “RealFeel” or “Heat Index” weather conditions, held at the discretion of A Better Bond Therapy.

If there is a windchill warning in effect, that session will not be held outside for the safety of all involved.

We have a climate-controlled counseling office off-site as an alternative option. We also have a covered arena, so light rainfall should not hinder sessions. However, sessions may be canceled when there is heavy precipitation (more than 1 inch of rain, snow, or ice in a short period of time or due to extreme muddiness.)

If your equine session is canceled due to weather conditions, your therapist may offer the option to adjust sessions to the off-site office space or Telehealth instead of canceling.

A Better Bond Therapy will email, text or call the number that had been designated to inform you directly of the session cancellations. You may also contact the office if you have questions.

You will NOT be charged for sessions canceled by A Better Bond Therapy or its affiliates.
